Patriots LB Ja’Whaun Bentley likes what he saw from team on Wednesday

New England Patriots linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley noted the team was off to a “hell of a start” in their preparations for the New York Jets on Sunday.

That remains to be seen. One thing is certain though: New England is off to a 0-2 start for the first time since the 2001 season.

Bentley has recorded 15 combined tackles so far, including nine tackles in the opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. He has been a staple of the defense since he was drafted by the organization in 2018.

New England’s defensive unit struggled in Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins. They allowed 389 total yards, including 145 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Quarterback Mac Jones talked about approaching things with a greater sense of urgency ahead of Sunday’s game. Bentley seemed to echo those feelings when speaking to media members.

“We obviously felt like we have to get back on track… more attention to detail. I thought today was a hell of a start,” said Bentley.

New England needs to be firing on all cylinders Sunday, as they look to avoid falling behind in a difficult AFC East division. A strong defensive effort would go a long way towards them turning things around and getting their first win.
