The New England Patriots announced they placed tight end Scotty Washington on injured reserve Tuesday, ahead of their contest with the Miami Dolphins. This leaves them with only one healthy tight end at the position.
Washington made his season debut during Saturday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. It was also his NFL debut, as he entered the game following injuries to Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith. Henry left with a knee injury, while Smith left with a head injury.
Washington played 48 snaps in the game. Perhaps his biggest contribution was his tipped touchdown pass to wide receiver Jakobi Meyers.
OMG 😱 MAC JONES. JAKOBI MEYERS. @Patriots

Matt Sokol is the only other available tight end on the roster, as the Patriots enter Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins banged up at the position.
It’s been a difficult season for the Patriots with injuries and on-field play. However, they can salvage their season by knocking off the visiting Dolphins and staying in the playoff hunt.
