The New England Patriots already knew what they had in quarterback Drake Maye from the very beginning, according to cornerback Alex Austin.
Maye had another strong showing against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, going 24-of-30 through the air for 238 yards, a touchdown and an interception. The lone interception came on a dropped pass by tight end Hunter Henry.
In addition to the passing yards, Maye accumulated 59 rushing yards to add to a total of 422 yards on offense for New England.
“From Day 1 when he got here, we knew he had it. Drake is a dog,” Austin said, via Boston Herald’s Andrew Callahan.
Despite all of the moving parts with the Patriots’ struggling roster, Maye has impressed in a major way on the field. The team might not have an offensive identity, but they have their quarterback.
