New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez praised Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown, who is set to play against the Kansas City Chiefs at Super Bowl LIX on Sunday.
Gonzalez and Brown had a stellar matchup against each other in 2023. Brown had four catches for 47 yards against Gonzalez, who was making his NFL debut at the time.
“A.J. Brown, I think doesn’t get enough credit as to what he puts out there,” said Gonzalez, when appearing on Pro Football Talk. “He has all the tools. He’s big, fast, strong, extremely smart. You can see him processing— looking, scanning the defense—things like that.”
Brown tipped his cap to Gonzalez last August by calling him the best defensive back in the 2023 NFL draft.
It’ll be fun to see the two match up in the future when the Patriots and Eagles cross paths again. Gonzalez has been a problem for some of the best receivers in the NFL, including Tyreek Hill, Garrett Wilson and even Ja’Marr Chase.
The fact that Brown stood out is a major compliment to the Eagles’ star receiver.
