Patrick Vieira urges full commitment from Crystal Palace squad - ‘I’m not going to accept players giving up’

Patrick Vieira will not accept his Crystal Palace players taking their foot off the gas, despite their FA Cup dream being over and Premier League safety secured.

Palace were knocked out of the FA Cup semi-finals by Chelsea earlier this month and, given they are 14th and nine points clear of relegation in the League, on paper it means they have little to play for.

Vieira, however, has rejected that notion and wants his squad to put building blocks in place for next season, starting away at Southampton tomorrow.

“We can’t choose when to turn up and when we don’t turn up,” he said.

“It is important for players to understand if you want to build from what we have been doing, this is something that has to be consistent.

“I’m not going to accept players giving up in games. This is not who we are as a football club.”
