Patrick Vieira reacts to Main Stand redevelopment news that Crystal Palace supporters 'will love'

Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira has reacted to the news that planning permission to build a new Main Stand at Selhurst Park has been accepted, saying 'the atmosphere will be in an even better place.'

The renovation, once completed, will potentially see Selhurst Park's capacity increase from around 26,000 to 34,000 and therefore allow a significant amount of additional supporters to attend home matches.

Permission had initially been granted back in 2018, however, delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic occurred and minor adjustments to the proposal had to be added to conform with new London Plan requirements.

Speaking to the press ahead of Saturday's trip to Everton, the Palace boss said: “It’s just one more step forward. You look at the facilities we have here, the facility at the Academy and now it is the stadium.

“The club is working to allow more fans to come and I think that is something that the fans and the players will love. The capacity will be even bigger, so the atmosphere will be in an even better place.

“It just shows how the chairman has been building this football club.”

The Eagles have won three of their six home matches this season and could win three in four Premier League outings with victory at Goodison Park this weekend.
