Patrick Vieira heaps praise on Dublin teenager Tayo Adaramola after Crystal Palace debut

Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira praised Dublin teenager Tayo Adaramola after he made his senior bow in Saturday’s FA Cup win over Hartlepool United.

The 18-year-old replaced Joel Ward for the final four minutes of the 2-0 win after Marc Guéhi and Michael Olise had scored before the break.

Former St Mochta’s and St Kevin’s Boys schoolboy Adaramola could have added a third goal soon after his introduction but for a timely challenge from Jamie Sterry.

Adaramola came through the ranks with the two Saints in his hometown before moving with his family to London at 11 and linking up with the Eagles academy.

And the Ireland under-19 international did enough to impress Vieira, a World Cup winner with France and longtime adversary of Roy Keane, with his cameo.

“He is a young player so full of energy,” Vieira told the assembled media when queried about the versatile left-back.

“He likes to go forward and has been doing well with the academy. This was the right time to give him a couple of minutes. He was close to scoring his first goal.

“He is a part of those young players where, if we work well with them and they are committed to the work ethic that we want to put into place, they will have a chance to fulfil their potential.”
