Patrick Vieira claims Manchester United's 'individual talents' were the difference in Crystal Palace win

Patrick Vieira has claimed that Manchester United's 'individual talents' were the key to their victory over his Crystal Palace side on Tuesday.

Goals from Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho gave the Reds a commanding 3-0 lead by the hour mark. However, a Joel Ward header and a sending off to youngster Will Fish took the gloss off what was a pretty comfortable run out for Erik ten Hag's men.

Speaking to Palace TV following his side's defeat, Vieira explained that he had expected a tough outing for his team in Australia. "I think on the three goals that we conceded we should defend better," the Frenchman said.

"There is some pictures that we have to look at again, but when you look at the individual talent of that team, we knew that it would be tough and difficult. But we had a couple of chances and I believed that we could score goals, and I was really happy with the attitude we showed.

"We didn’t give up, we tried to work well and work hard together. JP [Mateta] had a couple of situations, and we had a couple with Jordan [Ayew]. It was a Premier League game, and I was pleased with the intensity of the game.

"At times we didn’t defend well enough – there was a lot of space between the line and our pressing wasn’t good enough. We created space in behind and then it was really difficult for us."

United are next in action on Saturday when they face Aston Villa at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
