Travis Kelce’s relationship with Taylor Swift has swept up the entire country in no small part thanks to the enhanced media coverage surrounding the new couple. The national attention and distraction would drive most football players up a wall, but not Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes.
Ahead of his team’s Monday Night Football game against the Eagles, Mahomes sat down with ESPN’s Jeff Darlington where he says the extra media attention isn’t much worse than the regular attention his team gets as two-time Super Bowl champions.
“I don’t think it feels any different,” Mahomes said. “People see the whole Taylor Swift and Travis and they make it a huge deal because it is a huge deal. [I] think it becomes a bigger deal to the fanbases than it does to the guys that are actually in the building.
“I’ve been lucky enough to meet Taylor and see how good of a person she is,” he continued. “I think you understand why it’s not become a distraction or anything like that because everybody cares about being the best they can be every day.”
It’s no surprise that the two-time MVP doesn’t notice the brighter lights.
Kick off against the Eagles is set for 8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN.
