Patrick Mahomes said Andy Reid threatened to bench any player who left the locker room to watch Rihanna during the Super Bowl

Rihanna’s halftime show was pretty incredible, man. She hasn’t released any new music in years, but this show proved she doesn’t really need to because she still plays her hits really, really well.

It was a treat that we all got to see her perform live again on the biggest stage in sports. Well, almost all of us anyway.

Patrick Mahomes can assure you that not a single player on the Chiefs managed to catch a glimpse of Rihanna’s halftime show.

Why? Because Andy Reid was ready to bench anyone who left the locker room to take a peak. Seriously. Mahomes revealed this to us on the Jimmy Kimmel show.

“I heard it was great. Coach Reid told us ‘If you go out to watch the performance, just keep walking. Because you’re not playing the rest of the game.”

Sheesh. You can tell Mahomes is dead serious, too. He cracks a bit of a smile there and eventually laughs, but this is 100% a thing that actually happened. It’s hilarious.

You can’t blame Andy — he was trying to win a Super Bowl and the Chiefs were down by 10 at the half. Of course, everyone’s full attention needed to be on the game.

But coach…It’s Rihanna! I mean, look at this face. This is how she started her performance.

It’s no wonder more people actually watched the performance than the game, according to data from FOX Sports.

Not a single one of those folks played for the Chiefs, though. Salute to them for having such discipline. They’re better than me.
