Patrick Mahomes revealed the biggest regret from his postgame tantrum over the crucial offsides call

Patrick Mahomes was absolutely seeing red after a stunning go-ahead touchdown was negated by a rare offensive offsides call against Kadarius Toney. That much was clear as the Chiefs quarterback continued complaining about the call all the way into the postgame handshakes.

That was when the greeting with Josh Allen turned especially awkward.

Well, with a day to cool down from the incident, Mahomes admitted on Monday that he regretted how he handled the situation — especially how he acted towards Allen.

Speaking to 610 Sports in Kansas City, Mahomes reflected on the call and knew that he didn’t set the kind of example that he prides himself on doing.

Mahomes said:

“Obviously, you don’t want to react that way. I care, man. I love this game. I love my teammates. I want to go out there and put everything on the line to win. Obviously, can’t do that. Can’t be that way towards the officials or really anybody in life. I probably regret acting like that. More than anything, I regretted the way I acted towards Josh after the game because he had nothing to do with it. I was still hot and emotional, but you can’t do that, man. That’s not a great example for kids watching the game. So, I was more upset about that than I was about me on the sideline.”

On Monday, head coach Andy Reid added that Toney did not check with officials before the snap to see if he was lined up appropriately. So, it was the correct call, and the Chiefs still had three attempts to get into field-goal range (and failed).

It was just a deflating way to lose.
