Patrick Mahomes receives touching message from his father after winning second Super Bowl

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes won his second Super Bowl on Sunday after a stunning performance, and enjoyed a special moment with his father after the game.

The Chiefs left it late against the Philadelphia Eagles, but came out on top in a classic Super Bowl to win 38-35 after Harrison Butker kicked a winning field goal with eight seconds remaining. The Chiefs scored on every offensive drive in the second half, even though Mahomes began limping once more with an injured ankle.

There were doubts over Mahomes' condition heading into the game, and even during the Rihanna'a half-time show as he picked up another knock on his troubled ankle. Mahomes stressed that 'nothing would stop him from playing in the Super Bowl', and his father was as proud as anyone after the final whistle.

There were wild scenes as the Chiefs won their second Super Bowl under head coach Andy Reid, and Mahomes was seen celebrating with tight-end Travis Kelce - who had a lot to say on live TV. But after the crazy celebrations died down, Mahomes had a special moment with his father.

Patrick Mahomes Sr. embraced his son who had just been crowned Super Bowl MVP, and said: "Hey, I ain't never seen nothing like you! You different.

"You different. I love you. I love you to death baby! You know I do! Damn, you're good."

It was a beautiful moment after an emotional win, and absolutely no one can disagree with Mahomes' father. Even on an injured ankle, Mahomes managed to inspire victory despite the fact the Chiefs were behind right until the fourth quarter.

Mahomes' courage was hailed by Reid, who claimed that all his quarterback wants to do is become the greatest. "That’s what he wants to do, that’s how he goes about his business," said the Chiefs head coach.

"The great quarterbacks make everyone around them better, including the head coach. He’s done a heck of a job."

Mahomes now has the same amount of Super Bowl wins than Tom Brady did at his age, but he's still five wins away from the greatest quarterback of all-time. Mahomes has an immense amount of respect for Brady, and is not willing to be compared to him just yet.

"Ask me when I’m like 38 years old," Mahomes said when being asked if he is already the greatest quarterback talent the NFL has seen. Mahomes has a long career of success ahead of him, but for now he will be more than happy celebrating this latest victory.
