Patrick Mahomes reacts as Cincinnati Bengals book AFC rematch with Kansas City Chiefs

Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals are heading back to the AFC Championship, and Patrick Mahomes has already responded after finding out his next opponent.

The Bengals and the Kansas City Chiefs are running it back as both will meet in the AFC Championship game for a second-straight year, and Mahomes will be looking to seek revenge. The Bengals came out on top last season but lost in the Super Bowl to the Los Angeles Rams, and Mahomes and Burrow will go back at it next week, as long as the Chiefs quarterback is fit.

Mahomes suffered an ankle injury against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday but still managed to get the job done. And minutes after Sunday's game, he posted a clock emoji on Twitter, as he prepares to face the Bengals in seven days time.

Whoever came out on top between the Buffalo Bills and the Bengals was going to make for a great clash against the Chiefs, but it was Burrow that one the war. In the event, it was a war that was won with very little fight, as the Bengals eased past the Bills by a scoreline of 27-10.

Joe Mixon, Ja'Marr Chase and Hayden Hurst all got on the scoresheet for the Bengals, while quarterback Josh Allen was the only Bills player that found his way into the endzone. It didn't click for the Bills, but the Bengals look as though they can't be stopped.

The Chiefs also scored 27 points, although they won by a slightly tighter margin as they gave up 20 points to the Jaguars. It'll be a tougher game for both teams next week, and Mahomes posted a ticking clock after discovering their next opponents.

As it was the Bengals that won and not the Bills, the Chiefs will host the Championship game at Arrowhead rather than be forced to play the game on neutral ground. Due to the Bills being denied a shot at the no.1 seed as their game in Week 17 was abandoned, the NFL ruled that should the they make it to the Championship and face the Chiefs, there would be no home advantage.

But the Chiefs have secured home territory, but other things have worked against them that will be playing on their mind in the build-up to Sunday. For starters, Burrow looks increasingly dangerous, and the Bengals offense looked the best they have all season against the Bills.

And of course, Mahomes' fitness is a major concern as he suffered an ankle sprain on Saturday. He completed the game and assured reporters he would be "good to go", but if he's not 100 percent it could hinder the Chiefs.
