Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs to conduct first practice in full pads on Friday

Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs roster will don full pads during workouts for the first time this year at training camp in St. Joseph, Missouri on Friday.

To this point, the Chiefs have conducted their practices in shells that do not offer the full complement of protection that they wear during an actual game. As such, they have not been making full contact or tackling each other to the ground as they have conducted drills since Sunday’s first full-scale exercises.

While it is sure to be exciting for fans in attendance at Missouri Western State University to see the team playing football as it was intended to be played, this development will present an elevated risk of injury for players who participate in each of the Chiefs’ workouts.

Keep an eye out for the Kansas City’s injury report after each practice from Friday onward as Chiefs coaches keep fans and the media abreast of any news related to players getting banged up during practice.
