Patrick Mahomes actually admitted that he took it too far with his blatant flop against the Texans

In the past seven NFL seasons, the Chiefs went from an upstart team looking to end the Patriots’ dynasty to now … the perennial winner that every NFL fan accuses the league of protecting. And sometimes, Patrick Mahomes manages to make those same fans look right.

During the Chiefs’ AFC divisional round win over the Texans, fans were especially upset that Mahomes was able to draw an unnecessary roughness penalty after he danced around to avoid tacklers and went into a late slide. Though Mahomes wasn’t sorry about how he handled that play, there was one moment where he actually admitted that he took it too far with a flop around the sidelines.

Speaking to The Drive on 96.5 The Fan in Kansas City, Mahomes did admit that his flop wasn’t the best sportsmanship on his part. He was trying to help the team, but he did give credit to the official for not calling a penalty on the play.

He said:

“I would say the only one I felt like I probably did too much was the one on the sideline where I didn’t get the flag. The ref saw it and didn’t throw a flag, I understood it immediately and know that I probably shouldn’t have done that.”

We’ll have to see if he stands by that when the Chiefs take on the Bills in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game.
