PATRICK Harvie is stepping away from Holyrood for a couple of weeks due to medical reasons.
A Scottish Greens spokesperson confirmed the party's co-leader will take time away from next week for a planned medical procedure.
Along with fellow co-leader Lorna Slater, Harvie was a minister in the Scottish Government until last year when the powersharing deal with the SNP was brought to an end.
It is expected that Harvie will have a recovery time of at least six weeks, and may work remotely for a period before returning to Holyrood.
The spokesperson said: “Everyone at the Scottish Greens wishes Patrick well and hopes that he has a fast and full recovery.
“Patrick’s regional office will continue to work on behalf of his constituents and portfolios will be shared among his MSP colleagues. We look forward to welcoming him back to Parliament in the months ahead.”
