Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing is making a triumphant return to the New York Knicks in a newly established role as a basketball ambassador. The Knicks announced on Friday that Ewing will be lending his expertise to both basketball and business operations within the organization.

Selected as the No. 1 pick by the Knicks in the 1985 draft, Ewing enjoyed a stellar 15-season career with the team. He holds the distinction of being the franchise's all-time leader in points, rebounds, blocks, steals, and games played. Ewing's tenure with the Knicks saw the team make the playoffs for an impressive 13 consecutive seasons.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions, the Knicks retired Ewing's iconic No. 33 jersey in 2003. Following his playing career, Ewing transitioned into coaching, serving as an assistant coach for various NBA teams and later taking on the head coaching role at Georgetown University, where he had previously led the team to an NCAA championship victory in 1984.

Expressing his excitement about rejoining the Knicks, Ewing stated, 'As I said the day my No. 33 jersey lifted into the rafters at MSG, I will always be a Knick and I will always be a New Yorker. I can’t wait to get started in this new position and to officially be back with the organization that I love so much.'

Ewing's return to the Knicks comes on the heels of an announcement by USA Basketball that he will also be returning to coaching. Ewing is set to serve as an assistant coach under head coach Stephen Silas for upcoming FIBA AmeriCup qualifying games in November and February.

With his unparalleled experience and deep-rooted connection to the Knicks, Ewing's homecoming is poised to bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to the organization as they strive for continued success both on and off the court.
