Patrick Beverley had an up and down tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers this season after they acquired him during the summer for Talen Horton-Tucker and Stanley Johnson.
He started poorly, but he began playing a lot better in December, particularly when it came to his 3-point shooting.
Still, Los Angeles sent him to the Orlando Magic just before the trade deadline for backup center Mo Bamba.
Whether it is because he is upset the Lakers traded him or simply because of his competitive spirit, Beverley said he wants to prevent the Purple and Gold from making the playoffs this season.
Via Lakers Daily:
“Knock them out the playoffs,” Beverley said when asked about what his emotions will be like facing his former team.
The Lakers are in 13th place in the Western Conference, but even with just 23 games left in their regular season, they’re very much within striking distance of finishing sixth and making the playoffs outright.
After the Magic bought him out, Beverley will spend the rest of the season with the Chicago Bulls. They will face L.A. twice in late March.
