Patrick Beverley questions whether Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum can win together

If you thought the “Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum can’t win together on the Boston Celtics” debate was over, guess again — fellow NBAer Patrick Beverley brought it back to life again on a recent episode of his “Pat Bev” podcast. Asked if “Tatum and Brown can get it done together,” the now-Philadelphia 76ers veteran floor general did not mince words.

“No — too much of the same player,” said Beverley via Bleacher Report’s Doric Sam. “They don’t compliment each other enough. They complement each other, but not enough.” Asked who, then, he would trade away, however, and the Sixers guard had a surprising answer.

“You don’t get rid of anything,” he explained. “You just add. You add a defensive point guard, you add a 3-and-D guy.”

Asked if he might be the sort of player the Celtics could use, the defensive specialist told his interlocutor to “chill” — “Maybe some shot-blocking, a stretch five,” he added. “But they did it with (Kristaps) Porzingis … with Porzingis, (the Celtics) will be a lot better.”

Given Boston has a defensive point guard (Derrick White), a shot-blocker (Robert Williams III), a stretch five (Al Horford), and that Porzingis is a bit of a very tall 3-and-D guy who also does a bit of all the above save the point —

Maybe this was just how Pat Bev gives compliments to opponents.
