Patrice Evra to make boxing debut on Martyn Ford vs Iranian Hulk undercard

Patrice Evra will make his boxing debut on the undercard of Martyn Ford's heavyweight clash with the Iranian Hulk.

The former Man United defender won the UEFA Champions League during his time at the club in addition to five Premier League titles during a dominant era for the Red Devils.

The French star has trained in the boxing ring previously and has been seen hitting pads since retiring from football in July 2019.

He has made an appearance during charity football event Soccer Aid in 2020 but will make his ring debut on April 2 on a card hosted by celebrity boxing promotion Boxstar at the O2 Arena in London.

It will be headlined by a heavyweight clash between Martyn Ford and the Iranian Hulk.

The pair have been long-term rivals with Ford weighing 23 stone and standing at 6 feet 8 inches tall, while the 'Iranian Hulk' weighs around 390 pounds..

Love Island star Jack Fincham will also take to the ring as he looks to make a career from boxing after training with boxing coach Ben Davison.

Former Tottenham and Portsmouth midfielder Jamie O’Hara will take on weight loss specialist and life coach Kris Boyson while Love Island contestant AJ Bunker will also compete, taking on ring girl Carla Jade.

The event promises to capture a new generation of boxing fans in the UK as the rise of celebrity boxing cards continues.

In the main event, Ford has been in training for his maiden ring appearance and has vowed to settle his rivalry with fellow social media star 'Iranian Hulk'.

He has traded verbal jabs with his rival but is confident that he will have the ability to silence his opponent when their rivalry is settled later this year.

"I just want to smash his head in," Ford told Mirror Fighting . "It won’t give me any sense of achievement or pride to win, because I genuinely don’t think he will bring anything to the table that will allow me to be proud of myself.

“This is not a sporting event, you can’t have an event with someone who looks like that. That’s not a sportsman at all. This fight is purely for me to shut him and the other 200,000 fans of his. Once it is done it allows me to move forward."
