Patrice Evra shares passionate Erik ten Hag message after Manchester United defeat

Manchester United favourite Patrice Evra has praised "miracle" worker Erik ten Hag for the impressive work he has done in the Old Trafford hot seat, while calling for calm in the aftermath of defeat to Liverpool.

Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah inspired Liverpool to an astonishing 7-0 win over United that has prompted a post-match inquest from pundits, supporters and general observers. However, as far as Evra is concerned, their alarming reverse should not mask over what has generally been an encouraging season.

As well as finally ending the club's trophy hoodoo - by taking home the Carabao Cup a week ago - United can still follow up that success with more silverware in the FA Cup and Europa League. Despite the Liverpool game, they are also in prime position to rubber-stamp Champions League qualification.

Evra spoke about the heavy defeat during a guest appearance on the FIVE podcast with his former teammate, Rio Ferdinand, and the show's other regular hosts. Evra said: "I never got carried away.

"With this team, they are going in the right direction, but they are not yet ready [to win the Premier League]. I am not delusional. As a United fan, I will think about the title, but I will be honest with you, I never think United will be able to win [this season], because it is a process."

Evra, 41, continued: "Ten Hag is already doing some miracles so people forget where we come from. We already have a trophy. Of course, that is a massive loss - seven goals is a lot and you can question the defence - but it is a million times harder to take against Liverpool. We cannot forget what this team is now doing."
