Patrice Evra has backed Marcel Sabitzer to "rebound" from a tough spell at Bayern Munich and hit the ground running at Manchester United.
Sabitzer arrived in Manchester on deadline day, signing on loan for the remainder of the season. United acted swiftly to secure the services of the experienced midfielder after news that Christian Eriksen would be out until late April with an ankle injury.
The Austrian's desire to explore a new project came as a result of a lack of regular playing time in Munich, with the seemingly untouchable pair of Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich dominating Bayern's midfield. But despite a bumpy spell in Bavaria, Evra has backed the 28-year-old to find his best form at Old Trafford, revealing the two qualities he will bring to Old Trafford.

"Even if he hasn't played in a United shirt, Marcel Sabitzer's work rate is quite impressive," Evra told Betfair. "He's got stamina and what I love about this player is he scores goals from outside of the box. He scored some great goals for Leipzig, and of course he's had less playing time at Bayern Munich and that's why we've got him but I'm sure Ten Hag will have studied the player, he'll know the player and sometimes those players need to rebound.
"So, for him to have an opportunity to rebound at a club like United, it's amazing. I don't know if the transfer was accelerated due to the injury of Eriksen, but he's a quality player. When you play for Manchester United, things are different but I can't wait to see him in action."
While the signing of Sabitzer is an encouraging one, few will be happy with the circumstances surrounding it with Eriksen likely to miss the majority of the rest of the season. The Dane has been pivotal in midfield since joining on a free transfer, playing in 19 of United's 20 Premier League games and registering a goal and seven assists.
While Evra knows it will be a huge miss not having Eriksen available, the former Reds left-back knows others in the squad are capable of stepping up.
"I've been impressed with Eriksen," Evra added. "When he was still playing for Tottenham I remember he was a player who [Sir Alex] Ferguson liked so much. His cleverness, his technique is just amazing and of course we can't talk about Eriksen without thinking about what happened in the Euros. I thought that would be the end of his career.
"Ending his contract with Inter and coming back in the Premier League with Brentford and then he comes and plays for Man United at this level, I think we should give him so much credit. His injury is a massive blow for United because when I watch United the two creative players are Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes.
"It's definitely going to be tough for United, especially when they want to be in possession of the ball. Eriksen is the one that will give you that magic pass, he adds that quality and no other player has that same quality. I'm sure players like Fernandes will make sure they fill that empty space left by Eriksen, but of course we're going to miss him. He's irreplaceable, but I think we've got players to definitely cover."
