PATNA: The opposition, led by RJD, created a ruckus in the state legislative assembly on the second day of the monsoon session on Monday demanding a debate on the Centre's Agnipath scheme for short-term recruitment in armed forces.
Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha rejected the demand and adjourned the House in less than an hour in the pre-lunch session. As a result, the proceedings related to the question hour, zero hour and call attention notice were washed away.
RJD MLA Lalit Kumar Yadav and Congress legislature party leader Ajeet Sharma had moved adjournment motions for the debate, which the Speaker rejected. The opposition members entered the well of the House and kept raising slogans against the Agnipath scheme, the Centre and also against PM Narendra Modi.
The Speaker asked Yadav from RJD and Sharma from Congress to read their texts, but even this did not have any salutary effect on the opposition members, who persisted with their demand regarding the debate.
