A 40-year-old cancer patient was killed and three others, including the driver, were injured when an ambulance crashed into a truck near Bommanahalli on NH4 on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Vijaya Kumar, resident of Chitradurga, who was being ferried in the ambulance to NIMHANS for treatment. The driver of the ambulance, according to the police, reportedly noticed a technical problem and before he could react, the vehicle crashed into the truck.
Sensing trouble, the driver of the truck escaped along with the vehicle soon after the accident. Passers-by shifted the injured to a nearby hospital, where Vijaya Kumar succumbed to his injuries.
The Nelamangala traffic police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the truck driver .
