Patient dies at GP surgery after 999 and air ambulance emergency response

A patient died at a GP surgery after a 999 and air ambulance emergency response.

Emergency services were called to a medical incident at Coulby Medical Practice on Cropton Way, in Coulby Newham, Middlesborough, at about 2.22pm on Friday, January 6.

Two emergency ambulances and the Great North Air Ambulance's critical care team attended.

Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, the patient sadly died at the scene.

Pictures taken at the time show police officers diverting vehicles and blocking off entry to the GP surgery's car park, reports Teesside Live.

The air ambulance helicopter could be seen landing on the grass verge area just before entry into the car park.

A spokesperson for Coulby Medical Practice said: "We can confirm that, very sadly, a patient passed away at the Practice on Friday afternoon.

"We are supporting the family during this difficult time and it would not be appropriate to comment any further."

A Great North Air Ambulance Service spokesman said: "On Friday, January 6, our critical care team based at Eaglescliffe were activated at 2.49pm to reports of a medical incident in Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough. They arrived on the scene in seven minutes."

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson added: "We were called on January 6 at 2.22pm to a medical incident at an address on Cropton Way, Middlesbrough. We sent two emergency ambulances and support from Great North Air Ambulance Service colleagues."
