The movie stars Pierre Niney in the title role and is set to hit French theaters on June 28.

The storyline follows the protagonist, Edmond Dantes, who is wrongfully accused of a crime on his wedding day and imprisoned for 14 years. Upon his escape, he transforms into the Count of Monte-Cristo, seeking revenge on those who betrayed him.

The film is directed by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de la Patellière, known for their work on 'The Three Musketeers.' They describe 'The Count of Monte-Cristo' as a blend of adventure, thriller, and a powerful love story, portraying Edmond Dantes as the first French superhero who transitions from light to shadow as a masked avenger.

Co-produced by M6 Films and with broadcast partnerships with M6, Canal+, and Ciné+, the movie is a collaborative effort with Fargo Films. Producer Dimitri Rassam expressed excitement about the project, calling it a formidable challenge that combines elements of adventure, romance, thriller, and vengeance.

Pathé CEO Ardavan Safaee highlighted the film as an original masked avenger story, emphasizing themes of treason and redemption. The team is enthusiastic about the modern and cinematic vision brought by the directors, aiming to honor the essence of the literary masterpiece while infusing it with contemporary appeal.

'The Count of Monte-Cristo' promises to captivate audiences with its intricate narrative and dynamic portrayal of a classic tale of betrayal and retribution. Stay tuned for the release of this epic film that promises to deliver a thrilling cinematic experience.
