Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is one of the biggest reasons why the Buffaloes sit in the center of the college football universe in only two weeks into the 2023 season.
Shedeur, the son of first-year Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders, produced another excellent performance on Saturday in Colorado’s 36-14 victory against Nebraska, throwing for 393 yards on 31-of-42 passes, two touchdowns and zero interceptions.
As the Heisman Trophy hype for the junior signal caller continues to rise, ESPN’s Pat McAfee believes Shedeur should be the No. 3 selection in the ’24 NFL draft behind Southern California quarterback Caleb Williams and North Carolina’s Drake Maye.
“Shedeur Sanders has to be in there right now,” McAfee said during a Monday episode of The Pat McAfee Show. “His dad is Deion Sanders. Anytime you can get a legacy player… anytime you get somebody who knows what it’s like to be a professional athlete, knows what the NFL is like… it’s like this dude is unstoppable. He is so good at football.”

Shedeur has thrown for 903 yards, six touchdowns and zero interceptions while completing nearly 78% of his passes in two weeks of action. With that, the Dallas, Texas, native registered the second-most passing yards without throwing an interception in a major college football game in that span since ’00.
The 21-year-old will seek to lead Colorado (2-0) to its third win of the season on Saturday in a clash with Colorado State.
