Past and present Manchester United stars react to Anthony Martial's first Sevilla goal

Manchester United striker Anthony Martial opened his goalscoring account for Sevilla on Thursday evening in the Europa League, netting their third goal in a 3-1 win over Dinamo Zagreb.

In an action-packed first half at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium, which featured all of the game's four goals, Martial put Sevilla 3-1 up in first-half stoppage time.

The Frenchman, who joined the Spanish club on loan for the remainder of the season in last month's January transfer window, in the hope of securing more regular first-team football, swept home a cool, right-footed finish into the far-bottom corner.

It was a smart finish from the United loanee and one that put the contest to bed, meaning Sevilla have a two-goal advantage ahead of the second-leg in Croatia next Thursday.

Having failed to score in his first two outings for his temporary employers, Martial was delighted to get off the mark and score his first goal since United's 1-1 draw with Everton back in October.

On Instagram, the versatile attacker posted: "Great win and very happy to score my first goal in front of the fans."

As expected Martial's post attracted a wave of comments from supporters, as well as from current and former United players.

Below, MEN Sport has taken a close look at some of the messages that were sent the France international's way:

Jesse Lingard sent Martial two emojis - a face with love heart eyes and a clap.

Former United man Timothy Fosu-Mensah followed suit by sending Martial two emojis - a love heart and a flame, signifying his goal and performance.

As well as those two sending messages to the Frenchman, Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic, who also scored on Thursday evening, posted a message, writing: "Vamos Antonio…"

Fellow Sevilla ace Alejandro Gomez also reacted to Martial's post with three flame emojis.

On Martial's first strike in Sevilla colours, manager Julen Lopetegui said: "He gets into the rhythm of the team, he shows his qualities. He is a player who needs time, but he is getting into the team."
