Passengers slam Leeds Bradford airport as 'worst' as no one could use toilet

A burst water main led to chaos at Leeds Bradford Airport on Thursday and meant holidaymakers were unable to use the toilet.

In a statement on its Twitter page, Leeds Bradford Airport urged people to use their own toilet facilities before travelling to the airport. The warning came after a burst water main in nearby Yeadon cut off the airport's supply of running water.

But the lack of facilities led to some people calling for the airport to close and for its workers to be sent home until the issue was resolved.

A spokesperson for the airport said: "Due to a burst water main at nearby Yeadon, running water is currently not available at LBA, meaning toilet facilities are currently not available. Yorkshire Water is resolving the situation ASAP, but we urge passengers to use toilet facilities before arriving at the terminal."

Some were not impressed and called for the airport to immediately close due to the "health and safety issue." @mickhart76 said: "Need to shut the airport until facilities are working again. Staff need sending home too."

@Micharben added: "Yikes! Glad I'm not on duty today. I hope this is resolved very quickly." @manmanelende also voiced his concern for workers at the airport, saying: "Health and safety issue surely, how many employees have you got in the building with no toilet facilities working?"

The issue was quickly resolved, according to Leeds Bradford Airport, and people are now able to use the toilets and access running water. A spokesperson said: "Thank you for your patience. We've been informed that Yorkshire Water has fixed the problem. Water is now back on and all retail, lounge and toilet facilities in the airport."
