People flying out of Liverpool John Lennon Airport were asked to leave the departure lounge after a security issue.
Travellers said that they were escorted from the airport gates back through duty free and into security to be rescreened. The disruption is said to have been due to a "short term technical issue."
A spokesperson for the airport, told the ECHO that one of the passenger security screening machines was broken. Because of the technical issue, passengers who'd been checked by the machine needed to be rescreened.

People travelling through the airport told the ECHO that they were informed of a "security breach" before they were "told to leave" and were escorted back through to security. They said that everyone, including staff members, were scanned by a new machine.
An Airport spokesperson said: "Due to an unforeseen short term technical issue with one of the passenger security screening machines, it has been necessary for all passengers who had already passed through security to return ‘landside’ and be rescreened through security again in order to return to the Departure Lounge, whilst ensuring the safety and security of all passengers. Liverpool John Lennon Airport apologises for any inconvenience caused to passengers at this time."
