A Pennsylvania man was immediately busted by airport security after authorities said he attempted to smuggle meth inside a shotgun shell hidden in his groin.
The man tried to get through a checkpoint scanner Sept. 30 at the Philadelphia International Airport when the alarm went off. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officials discovered white powder concealed inside a shotgun shell in the man's groin area, as reported by WHTM.
TSA confirmed that the powder was not explosive before turning it over to police, who determined that it was methamphetamine and arrested the man on state charges.
"In this instance, our explosives experts conducted a test to determine what the mysterious white powdered substance was and fortunately it was determined not to be an explosive. It is disappointing to see individuals attempt to hide items on their person or among their carry-on items in an attempt to conceal them. We are not looking for drugs, but when we come across them, we alert law enforcement and let them handle the situation," Gerardo Spero, TSA's Federal Security Director for the airport, told WHTM.
A photo of the shotgun shell was shared to X by TSA spokesperson Lisa Farbstein who captioned the image, "So here's the tip of the day: Don't try to conceal drugs in ammunition and then stick it down your pants."
Any kind of ammunition, including shotgun shells, is banned at airport security checkpoints.
