Passenger slams 'outrageous' cost of airport breakfast branded 'muck' by others

An airport breakfast described as "muck" has been criticised by a hungry passenger who was stunned by its "outrageous" price tag.

The diner bought the particularly unpalatable looking breakfast at Dublin Airport, with the polystyrene packaging housing a pool of beans, one egg, and two black puddings.

While this may not seem too bad for your average air passenger keen to get something in their belly while they prepare to jet off, the eye-watering cost of the meal left the diner, and others online, in shock, reports the Mirror.

The 'Irish breakfast' cost the man €14.20 which is £12.44. The man posted on Reddit to share his culinary catastrophe, saying the overprice meal was "not good quality".

He said: "This was the price they pulled out of nowhere. I shared because the price they came up with for it, is frankly, outrageous."

The man said he was forced to buy that specific meal as he has food allergies, limiting what he could choose from the menu.

Reddit users were quick to disparage the breakfast. One person said: "Dublin Airport breakfast used to be expensive but tasty. That's... insulting."

Another said: "I at least remember the breakfast being a bit of a treat even though it was way overpriced. This is muck."

It appears this is not an isolated experience for people stopping for food while at Dublin Airport. In April, journalist Kevin Doyle shared a picture of his breakfast, which cost a whopping €18.65, or £15.64.

And again, this was not fine dining or a huge plateful, consisting of four slices of toast, two sausages, two cups of tea and a bottle of water.

Kevin said: "Dublin Airport has sorted out the security queues - but breakfast is another story. No bacon, no pastries… and €18.65 for this gourmet selection."
