A jury heard that a police officer shouted 'Bingo!' on finding cannabis worth nearly £100,000 in the boot of a car.
Passenger Robert Sulollaraj, of Newcastle, was jailed for three years this week.
The 24-year-old had claimed he knew nothing about the drugs despite officers insisting the smell was "overwhelming".
But the jury took just 15 minutes to find him guilty of being concerned in the supply of cannabis on the M74 in Lanarkshire.
Hamilton Sheriff Court heard the Volkswagen Golf was stopped near Larkhall on January 15 last year.
Four bags of herbal material weighing 9.7 kilos in total were found in the boot.
Sulollaraj, originally from Albania, said he was being driven to Glasgow with a view to buying a car he'd seen on Facebook.
He told his lawyer, Gerry McGuire: "It was a Mercedes C class and I was hoping to get it cheap, for £350 to £500, then do it up and make a profit.
"I saw bags in the boot that morning but I wasn't paying attention. I smoked a couple of cannabis joints during the journey."
Sulollaraj admitted that he and the driver were carrying fake Albanian driving licences.
Police seized two phones from him and on one were videos showing herbal cannabis being handled and examined.
Sulollaraj said these were just some of the many videos he posted on social media and insisted he did not feature in the short films.
He added: "The police started searching the car and I heard an officer say 'Bingo!' as he had found cannabis.
"I told them I had nothing to do with it. I couldn't believe it."
But prosecutor Vish Kathuria told the accused: "When police stopped the car there was an overwhelming smell of cannabis.
"You have had more than 18 months to come up with a story and try to fool the jury."
A warrant was issued for the arrest of the 25-year-old car driver who failed to attend court for the trial.
