Parts of M8, M77 and M74 motorways to be closed for almost two weeks

PARTS of Glasgow's M8, M77, and M74 motorways are set to be closed for almost two weeks.

On behalf of Transport Scotland, Amey will be carrying out essential resurfacing of the M74 to M77 westbound carriageways.

According to the road firm, around 1,419 metres of the road will be resurfaced between the M8 Carnoustie Street on-slip road and before Junction 1 (Dumbreck Interchange) of the M77.

The work will take place from Monday, September 16 until Thursday, September 26, each night between 8pm and 6am.

It will be carried out across two phases using overnight road closures.

Phase one of the work will take place between 8pm and 6am each night from Monday, September 16 until Wednesday, September 25.

During this time, a closure of the M8 Junction 21 (Seaward Street Interchange) westbound on-slip at Carnoustie Street will be in place.

Closures will also be in place between the M74 Junction 1 (Kingston Interchange) and Junction 23 (Dumbreck Interchange) of the M8 secondary carriageway, the M8 Junction 23 off-slip, and between the M8 secondary carriageway and the M77 southbound.

Additionally, a closure will also be in place between the mainline carriageway of the M8 and the M77 southbound on-slip.

Meanwhile, phase two of the work will be carried out each night between 8pm and 6am from Wednesday, September 18 until Saturday, September 21.

This maintenance work will require lane closures on the westbound mainline M8 carriageway between Junctions 23 and 24 (Helen Street Interchange), as well as a closure of the westbound Junction 24 off-slip.

Diversions will be in place for motorists throughout the works.
