Partner of man who was knifed to death 'can't live without' him

The heartbroken partner of a man who was knifed to death at her house has told how she “can’t live without” him.

Lithuanian man Juris Viktorovs was stabbed at the property in Ballyconnell in Wicklow, on Thursday evening at around 8.15pm.

Juris, 36, and Breda Mary Kane only began their relationship in October of last year.

And on social media, Breda, who lives in the house where his life was taken, wrote: “Juris I miss you so much, you were my life, I can’t live without you, I love you forever baby, you are my soulmate.

“Life is so cruel, I miss you.”

And in another post she said: “I miss you so much I can’t live without you your [sic] my life. I love you forever, how can I live without you?”

A man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s were arrested following the attack but have since been released without charge.

In a statement over the weekend, a garda spokesman said files are being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

“Gardaí in Baltinglass are continuing to appeal to any person who may have information in relation to this incident to contact them.

“Any person with any information which may be relevant to the Garda investigation should contact Baltinglass Garda Station on 059 648 2610, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.”

Gardai probing the incident believe Juris was stabbed following an altercation at the house, where a number of people were present.

Locals did not know the victim of the attack but said it was totally uncharacteristic of the area.

Cllr Vincent Blake echoed what those in the small community were saying.

He said: “Shock is the first word that comes to mind in regards to what happened here.

“People here just talk about sport, the local school here, the church and so forth, things of that nature is what comes to people’s minds, not something of this nature is ever associated with it.

“So really it’s a tragedy.”
