Partick Thistle complete ownership transfer but fans hit out and MP provides 'disgraceful' verdict

Partick Thistle have completed a transfer with the PTFC Trust that sees them take on the majority of the club's shares.

74% is now held by The Trust after The Three Black Cats, the group which held the majority shareholding of late lottery winner Colin Weir, passed its stake onto them. It comes off the back of fans of the Scottish Championship club providing criticism due to a lack of transparency over the deal.

The Jags Foundation, a supporters group formed with the goal of taking on Weir's shareholding at some stage, has raised issues about that matter, the involvement of agents in the deal, and fan representation being lacking on the club's board. A statement from the Firhill club reads: "Following almost three years of uncertainty, the club welcomes the long term stability that this shares transfer will bring to Partick Thistle FC and looks forward to working with the PTFC Trust to maximise the success of the club."

MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire South Mhairi Black responded on Twitter: "This statement, along with the entire process, has been utterly disgraceful. Secret deals being made between the unelected is something I have come to expect from my work, not my football club."

The Foundation said on Saturday: "The PTFC Trust has been completely silent on providing further information about its plans for over a fortnight.

"There remain a vast array of unanswered questions about how the deal came about, and what it will actually entail going forwards.

"This share transfer should not be allowed to go ahead, and we will, as a matter of urgency, be contacting the Scottish Football Association to raise concerns about this clandestine process."
