Parliament’s Pushpa Moment: Kharge Warns BJP ‘Jhukega Nahi!’ in Explosive Speech

Mallikarjun Kharge

New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge delivered a powerful counterattack in Rajya Sabha on Thursday, borrowing Pushpa movie’s iconic dialogue to declare: "I’ll break but won’t bend!" The sharp retort came after BJP MP Anurag Thakur accused him of illegally occupying Waqf board lands.

During the Lok Sabha debate on the Waqf Amendment Bill, Anurag Thakur had claimed that Kharge "grabbed Waqf lands." Countering the allegations, Kharge said, "These baseless charges damage my 60-year clean political career. Prove it or apologize—else Thakur should resign as MP."

The veteran Congress leader, voice trembling with emotion, defended his six-decade political journey, declaring his life "an open book of struggles." Highlighting his humble roots as "a laborer’s son who fears no lies," he challenged the BJP: "Show proof or withdraw these false claims!" Staking his reputation, he dared them: "Find me guilty of even one illegal land deal, and I’ll resign."

Thakur had earlier slammed the Congress for "vote bank politics," alleging Waqf boards became "ATMs for minority appeasement" under their rule.

Rajya Sabha witnessed dramatic scenes as Kharge, visibly emotional, thumped his desk while challenging the BJP to provide evidence, roaring: "I won’t be intimidated!"

The heated exchange reflects growing tensions over religious land management laws, personal reputations at stake in an election year, and the opposition’s aggressive posture against BJP’s allegations.
