VHI health centres have partnered with parkrun Ireland, in association with Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP), to encourage people to attend their local run every weekend.
Every Saturday at 9:30am there are organised parkruns in 100 locations across the country, which are free to take part in. VHI are encouraging as many people as possible to get involved as "events such as parkrun can have such positive effects on mental and physical health and can sometimes help reduce the need for lifelong medication."
VHI 360 Health Centres in Carrickmines, Swords and Dundrum are set to become 'parkrun practises' in the coming months to "encourage patients and carers to take part in their local parkrun to help build local communities centred on wellness."

VHI has been the partner of parkrun Ireland for the past seven years and is encouraging as many people as possible to get involved. "Whether you participate in parkrun as a walker, jogger, runner or a volunteer, research shows that it can have a positive impact on your health," VHI said.
More than 10,000 people across the country take part in a parkrun every weekend. Participants only need to register once here, and then bring their personal barcode to every event to track their progress.
