Parklife organisers have issued an update after all music was stopped at the festival.
The festival was brought to a halt at 4pm this afternoon due to thunderstorms and "local lightning strikes". Fans at The Valley stage were told to ‘move three metres’ away from large structures this afternoon as dark clouds graced the sky ahead of warned thunderstorms, the MEN reports.
Festival goers were also warned not to use their mobile phones or hold up metal objects or selfie sticks whilst the storm brewed overhead.
In a tweet at 4pm, Parklife said: "Please note for the safety of customers and staff, we are calling a full show stop. We are expecting this to last for 40 minutes whilst the storm passes. Thank you for your patience.

"Due to the storm, we may have to cut power on the stage. During this time, we may not be able to make announcements. Do not use your mobile phone or hold up flags, metal objects, selfie sticks."
Organisers confirmed to the M.E.N that admission had been temporarily paused. A spokesperson said: "The festival is temporarily pausing the entrance gates due to the storm."
In an update, this afternoon, Parklife said the festival has now resumed and last entry has been pushed back. A spokesperson said: "Please note: the storm has passed and we are preparing to restart shortly. Thank you for your patience."
In a further tweet, they added: "5pm. We're back. The storm has passed - LET'S GO MANCHESTER."
A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms remains in place in Manchester and Liverpool this evening (Sunday).
