Fuming residents have been using chains, cones and signs to stop people - including neighbours - parking on their road in a row over space.
When he can, Abraham Gihawi parks his car in Waterloo Park Avenue in Norwich, because the neighbouring street he lives in is permit only, and his parents Deborah and Jamal have the only two permits allocated to their household.
But Abraham's family say some of the residents living in Waterloo Park Avenue have taken to placing various objects to reserve the places for themselves, despite it being a public road with no parking permit restrictions, reports Norwich Evening News.
Deborah said: "They are putting up signs, running chains tree-to-tree and putting out cones. But they don't own the road and my son pays his taxes."
But Robin and Maureen Clare - who have lived in Waterloo Park Avenue for 40 years - said they only want drivers parking on their street to respect the verges.
Robin added: "Over the years they've been destroyed by parking. We've re-seeded and re-turfed at our own expense. We can't stop people parking here, we ask people are considerate. It's an issue that does need to be discussed."
She said some people also park opposite a junction which she described as dangerous and has apparently caused car accidents.
Local Labour councillor Chrissy Rumsby said there were issues surrounding parking in the area.
She said: "The issue is not necessarily that they're parking there, it's how they're parking. It's about being courteous. But something needs to be done. Permits often solve one problem and create another.
Meanwhile, one man went viral on Reddit after sharing a look at what they claim is a neighbour's attempt at "reserving" an on-street parking space near where they live. The unnamed user shared a snap of the sneaky trick.
Posting on the Casual UK forum, they said: "My neighbour bought a broken moped to hold his parking spot when he’s not home."
Alongside this, they shared a snap of the moped at night time, parked between two other cars - but with a big gap in between.
The post garnered more than 3,900 upvotes and hundreds of comments from fellow users.
Many people thought it was an odd thing to do as the moped owner would have to be taxing the vehicle to keep it on the road. Others joked the moped wouldn't last there very long.
"If where you live is anything like mine, that'll be in the back of a van in very short order," proclaimed one person.
Another said: "I’d find something to put next to it, so when he moves his bike, there isn’t room for their car. Yes, I am that petty."
