After a major goof up of not including the names of as many as 17 allottees in the draw of lots list for parking space in Sector 63 on September 6, Chandigarh Housing Board has constituted a four-member committee under the chairmanship of board secretary Danish Ashraf.
The other committee members include Bhupesh Mittal, account officer, Vimal Sharma, CHB architect, and Vinod Kaushik, account officer. They will look into the ways to provide space to the left-out allottees, and will submit a report within the next seven days.
Talking to HT, a senior CHB officer said, “We are also working on allotting the parking space to those who have not applied. Even we are contemplating on constructing sheds for those who will get space in the open.”
On October 8, HT had reported how the CHB forgot to include names of the 17 allottees, who had later demanded cancellation of the draw of lots.
The matter had come to the light after some allottees approached the CHB regarding parking space and didn’t find their names in the list despite submitting their application in time. Subsequently, the CHB also realised the glaring mistake.
An allottee told HT that it’s good that a committee has been formed to look into the matter.
On September 6, the CHB had held draw of lots to provide parking space to more than 50% of the allottees, who had paid Rs 1 lakh extra for additional stilt parking space; those who had not opted for the space were offered Rs 50,000 rebate in the total cost of a flat.
The draw of lots was held as there is space for only 700 allottees against total 2,108 flats constructed by the CHB.
Of 888 allottees of two-bedroom flats, only 446 will get the stilt parking facility, while of total 336 allottees of three-bedroom flats, only 164 will get the same facility.
Water leakage in many flats
The members of resident welfare association, Sector 63, have lodged a complaint with the authorities concerned over water leakages in various flats. “It’s ironical that the flats have not even been allotted but the leakage has started,”alleged the association members in a meet on Sunday. They also said the matter will be taken up with UT adviser Vijay Dev.
