Can you park for free on the street in the city centre?

The majority of the city centre sits within the council's Inner Zone, which means that during the day you will always have to pay to park in an on-street parking bay. This rule only operates between 8am and 6pm, with drivers able to park their vehicles in these bays for free at other times.

However, you have to move your car before 8am or risk a fine. There are on-street bays spread across the city centre.

The rates for them are: 30 minutes - £1.20, 1 hour - £2.40, 1 and a half hours - £3.60, 2 hours - £4.80, 4 hours (max stay) - £6.00
