Parker Posey has said the cast of The White Lotus were “always going to hospital“ in Thailand.
The actor, who plays Victoria Ratliff on the hit series, told The Sunday Times Style magazine that she fell ill after eating some dodgy fish, which also left her co-star, Sam Nivola, 21, poorly.
“There was a piece of fish that left me and Sam Nivola, who plays my youngest son, on a few weeks of plain rice and pasta with the D-word and constipation alternating,” the 56-year-old told the publication.
But she says going to hospital in Thailand was a different experience, where her co-stars didn’t have to wait long to be treated.
“[People] were always going to the hospital and coming back like they’d had the time of their lives. Thai hospitals were so nice, you could do everything there … you could get Botox and medicine easily, and waiting in line wasn’t a thing.”
Posey also said that filming was an “endurance test” due to the “intense” heat.
“In my first scene I wore a long-sleeved dress and they needed a hairdryer between takes because the sweat shows through,” she confessed.
Recently, her onscreen husband Jason Isaacs also said things could smell a bit “gamey” due to the cast all staying in the same place for seven months.
The stars of the drama stayed at the Four Seasons and Anantara Mai Khao Villas - which served as the setting for The White Lotus wellness spa and hotel - during production.
Isaacs admitted that it could get a bit whiffy due to dozens of actors being “crammed into a villa” without air-conditioning.
“Nobody should be that jealous of me, it wasn’t a holiday,” the Harry Potter star told hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp on The One Show.
“40 men and women, crammed into a villa with the air conditioning off. It’s over 100 degrees (45 Celcius). We’re all covered in makeup and there’s lights and you’re there all day. It’s quite gamey, is what I’m saying.”
“There’s an off-screen White Lotus as much as there’s an on-screen White Lotus, just with hopefully fewer body bags.”
Isaacs plays the head of the wealthy Ratliff family in the third series, alongside his wife Victoria (Parker Posey), son Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger), daughter Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook), and youngest son Lochlan (Sam Nivola).
