The women’s triathlon took place earlier this morning in Paris, despite the rainy weather overnight. World Triathlon and Paris 2024 organizers deemed the water quality in the River Seine acceptable for the athletes to swim, following concerns about E. coli that had led to the postponement of the men’s race earlier in the week.
Fortunately, the sun is now shining, and the women's event concluded with Cassandre Beaugrand clinching a thrilling gold medal, much to the delight of the local spectators. Subsequently, the men's triathlon has commenced.
Compared to the women's race, the conditions are expected to be somewhat more favorable for the male competitors. The slick streets resulting from the rain had caused crashes during the cycling segment of the women's race, eliminating some participants from the running for top positions.
