For the very first time, the Olympic opening ceremony is set to take place in the city of Paris along the Seine River, a departure from the traditional stadium setting.
Over 104,000 spectators will be seated in stands positioned along the River Seine to witness the grand event. Additionally, an impressive 220,000 individuals will be accommodated on raised roadways spanning a six-kilometer stretch of the river, offering a unique vantage point for the ceremony.
French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin has confirmed these attendance figures, highlighting the widespread interest and anticipation surrounding this unconventional Olympic opening.
Leading up to the main event on July 26, torchbearers will traverse the streets of Paris, carrying the symbolic Olympic torch through various iconic locations in the city. The torch's journey will culminate beneath the iconic Eiffel Tower, one of the most recognizable landmarks in France, symbolizing the unity and spirit of the Olympic Games.
