Paris Hilton calls Princess Diana her 'idol' and says her 'heart breaks' for Prince Harry

Paris Hilton has revealed Princess Diana was her ‘idol’ and wished she could have been like her.

The hotel heiress has previously said she wanted to be viewed as American royalty growing up.

But her hopes of aspiring to be like Princess Diana were dashed when a sex tape of her with ex-boyfriend Rick Salomon was released when she was 18.

Although the tape propelled the socialite to super stardom and one of the most famous people of the Noughties, Paris said it was sold for profit without her consent.

She claims the tape went on ruin her reputation and any chance of her becoming a Princess Diana figure in the future.

In an upcoming interview with Magic Radio Breakfast, the 42-year-old also said her “heart breaks” for Prince Harry losing his mum so young.

Asked if she had read Prince Harry’s autobiography Spare, Paris replied: “I did read it and I watched the series as well.

“He has been through so much and I can’t imagine just losing my mum – Princess Diana has always been one of my idols.

“It just breaks my heart they had to go through that and I know how it is with the media.

"It can be so hard when they are just invading your lives constantly and he has had that his entire life.”

Paris has just become a new mum herself after making a shock announcement she had welcomed a son via surrogate in January.

It is the first child for the former Simple Life star and her husband Carter Reum, who she tied the knot with in 2021.

Revealing his sweet name for the first time, she said on her This Is Paris podcast: “My beautiful baby boy's name is Phoenix Barron Hilton Reum."

She explained Phoenix stands for "hope, rebirth and transformation" and said she chose his middle name in honour of her late grandfather, Barron Hilton.

Paris said: "He was always my mentor, and I looked up to my grandfather so much, and we were so close, and I miss him every day, so I really wanted to honour him by having his name in my first son's name."

Sharing plans for another child in the future, Paris has now set her sights on having a little girl.

She already knows what she is going to call her – and it’s a nod to British capital.

“I’ve been planning my children’s names for years and years, so I want to name my daughter London,” she told Magic Breakfast hosts Harriet and Ronan.

“I was trying to think of a boy’s name that was a city as well and Phoenix is just a beautiful name. I love the meaning behind it as well, so I thought it was the perfect name for my baby boy.”

She also shared her excitement for pal Lindsey Lohan’s upcoming pregnancy saying: “I’m so happy for her.”

Former wild child Paris added: “It is so amazing to see all of us grown up and in the next phases of our life.”
