As FRANCE 24 takes a look at the artistic and cultural iterations of the Olympic Games, fashion designer Stéphane Ashpool invites us into his Paris workshop to get a sneak preview of his creations for the French athletes competing this summer. With a modern take on French heritage, Ashpool blends his love for sports and his eye for detail in these hi-tech garments.
Meanwhile, urban cultures and practices are at the heart of a new Paris exhibition, SPOT 24, which walks visitors through the history of surf, skateboarding, BMX biking and breakdancing as the Games integrate street sports in their official events.
And we meet American artist Rachel Marks, whose monumental installation "Symfolia" echoes the five Olympic rings and reinterprets them as huge tree trunks. The sculpture has been constructed from a rich variety of recycled materials and was made with the help of French footballer Kylian Mbappé's association at the Paris Philharmonic.
