Table tennis player Ibrahima Diaw on his Olympic journey for Senegal

Ibrahima Diaw is representing Senegal at the 2024 Olympics in table tennis. He easily beat Nepal's Santoo Shrestha (4-0) in the first round, but fell to Hong Kong's Chun Ting Wong (4-3) in the round of 32 on July 29. This brings the 32-year-old player's Olympic tournament to a close. He shares with us his experience of the competition. 

Also, Ghana is a step closer to having more women participating at the highest level in every aspect of its society. MPs have just passed a bill that sets a target to increase their numbers to at least 30 percent by 2030. The process has been in the pipeline for over 25 years.

Finally, parts of Morocco are experiencing excruciating heat. Temperatures have topped 48°C and aren't likely to drop much below that this week. The heatwave has officially caused at least 21 deaths but the true number of heat-related fatalities is likely to be far higher. Our team reports.
