Parents have been warned about popular children's pyjama sets over suffocation fears.
Dunnes Stores pulled some of the sets from its shelves over risks of suffocation and cuts.
Almost 6,000 sets have been sold in Ireland.
The affected products are the Digger, Dino, Mermaid and Unicorn short-sleeved pyjama sets for young children.
A spokesperson told the Irish Mirror : “A fusible layer inserted and applied to the back of the pyjama top may pose a safety risk if not secure on all garments.”
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission issued a recall notice earlier today.
It said: “Dunnes Stores Unlimited Company is carrying out a recall of Digger, Dino, Mermaid and Unicorn short-sleeved pyjama sets for young children.
“The risk associated with the product is that of Cuts (abrasions), suffocation. A fusible layer inserted and applied to the back of the pyjama top may pose a safety risk if not secure on all garments.
“The brand is Dunnes Stores. The style numbers are as follows:
“Style no. 6818137 (Digger short-sleeved pyjama set (6 months – 4 years)
“Style no. 6818138 (Dino short-sleeved pyjama set (6 months – 4 years)
“Style no. 6819375 (Mermaid short-sleeved pyjama set (6 months – 4 years)
“Style no. 6819376 (Unicorn short-sleeved pyjama set (6 months – 4 years)
“There are approximately 5,941 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.”
Anyone who has bought the affected pyjamas should stop using them immediately and return them to their local Dunnes store for a refund.
The CCPC added: “If customers have any further queries in relation to this recall, please email Dunnes Stores at customerservice@dunnesstores.com.”
Last month, we reported that an urgent strangulation warning had been issued for a girl's swimsuit as parents are told to "discontinue use".
The floral two-piece bathing suit appeared on the VOVA Platform as the CCPC in Ireland issued the notice.
The CCPC said on its website that "a safety issue has been identified with a baby girl’s swimming costume sold on the VOVA Platform".
It added: "The risk associated with the product is that of asphyxiation. The article presents a risk of entrapment which could lead to strangulation or other injuries."
The brand of the product is unknown but the type/number of the model is C03-5-3-2, the Irish Mirror reports.
