The family of a teenager left unable to walk or talk after suffering horrific injuries during a kidnapping by her thug boyfriend are "furious" at his "unduly lenient" prison term.
Angel Lynn, 19, sustained brain damage and will require 24-hour care for the rest of her life thanks to ex-partner Chay Bowskill - who could be free in just over two years.
The 20-year-old was filmed carrying Angel across a busy street and throwing her into the back of a van, but on speeding off at 60mph she fell from the vehicle.
Bowskill was convicted of kidnap and coercive behaviour but cleared of pushing Angel out of the van.
He was given a total of seven and a half years in prison on Monday, but will serve just half of that inside.
And due to time already served on remand, could be released in June 2024.
Angel's mum Nikki, 47, told the Sun: "It makes me furious. What kind of message is that sending to monsters like him?
"He can be back out trying to wreck other women’s lives while my daughter is trapped forever."
Dad Patrick, 53, said he could never forgive Bowskill, adding: "He has stolen everything from Angel and paid such a small price with that sentence."
The couple, from Loughborough, Leicestershire, plan to call for a review of the sentence and said they were surprised it wasn't more severe after the judge appeared to recognise the serious consequences.
Kidnapping can carry a life term but currently has no sentencing guidelines.
Nikki and Patrick, both cleaners, face a lifetime of care bills costing tens of thousands a year.
Mum-of-six Nikki said it "felt like my heart had been ripped from chest" after she was told by doctors Angel would die.
But with the brave teen having battled to stay alive, her mum admits she doesn't know how long her daughter will live or what her quality of life will be like.
Angel was found lying on the A6 near her home on September 27, 2020.
Bowskill and his friend Rocco Sansome, 20, were cleared of wrongdoing over the injuries she suffered in the fall, claiming she jumped after he ended the relationship.
However, Angel's parents say the footage of the incident shows their daughter had ended things and was desperate to get away.
They claimed he sent her controlling messages and even tried to impose a curfew on her.
Bowskill, of Syston, Leicestershire, was cleared of causing GBH with intent, but convicted of kidnapping and jailed for two years.
He was further convicted of controlling and coercive behaviour and sentenced to three years and three months in jail, to run consecutively.
He was also found guilty of perverting the course of justice, for which he was sentenced to two years and three months in jail, also to run consecutively.
Sansome, of Loughborough, was found guilty of kidnap and sentenced to 21 months in jail.
